FAQ

Questions about Basket & Burner

Short answers on pantry tracking, recipes from ingredients on hand, and diet filters.

How do households work?

Create a household and invite others by email. Everyone keeps their own login. Inventory and shopping lists are shared. Owners can remove members; anyone can leave.

What is the food log?

Track what you ate and see daily calories. Open Food log from the settings menu. Later this can sync to Apple Health or Health Connect.

What is Basket & Burner?

Basket & Burner is a pantry inventory app. You scan groceries, track what’s in the fridge, freezer, and cabinets, then get recipes ranked by ingredients you already have on hand.

How does Basket & Burner find recipes from ingredients on hand?

It searches home-cooking sources and ranks each recipe by pantry match. Meals you can mostly make rise first, so dinner starts from the shelves instead of a shopping list.

Which recipe sites does Basket & Burner search?

Basket & Burner pulls from multiple sources, including Allrecipes, BBC-style home cooking via Forkify, TheMealDB, and Spoonacular, then merges and ranks them against your pantry.

Can I filter for low calorie, high protein, or low carb?

Yes. Preferences include those nutrition goals plus common diet types and allergies. The same rules apply when you check a product in the food checker.

How do I add groceries to my pantry?

Scan a barcode, snap a receipt, or type items in. Basket & Burner files them in Fridge, Freezer, or Pantry so you can see what’s usable and what’s expiring.

Does Basket & Burner help reduce food waste?

That’s the point. Cooking from what you already bought means fewer duplicate grocery runs and less food going in the trash.

Is Basket & Burner free?

Yes. Create an account and start a pantry at no cost.
